In the middle of the deadliest pandemic in recent history, private health insurance corporations are making record profits, while tens of thousands of New Yorkers die, lose income, can’t afford rent, and struggle to pay unaffordable medical bills. We need a just recovery from this pandemic, and that means truly universal, guaranteed healthcare.
On Thursday, March 4, join the Campaign for New York Health, WNY Poor People’s Campaign, and Coalition for Economic Justice for a Western NY Virtual Barnstorm for Universal Healthcare to get organized to pass the NY Health Act, a bill to make healthcare a guaranteed right in New York State. At this event, we will go over the policy (what is the NY Health Act?), the political landscape, and the organizing plan for pressuring our state lawmakers to make universal healthcare a priority in 2021.
RSVP to let us know you will join and please spread the word! Closer to the event, we will share resources and details for joining the barnstorm via Zoom.
What is the New York Health Act? The New York Health Act will provide comprehensive, health coverage for everyone who lives or works full-time in New York. You and your healthcare provider of choice will work to keep you healthy—New York Health pays the bill. You will never have to fear going without coverage again -- especially in the middle of a public health crisis.
