To build the movement for healthcare as a human right we are harnessing the power of our personal stories. Stories make the political issues personal and illustrate how the current system fails to guarantee healthcare for all of us.
What is "Canvassing"? Canvassing refers to going door-to-door and having deliberate conversations with community members. It is an essential component of organizing. The goal of canvassing is the engage *new* folks in our work by listening to their healthcare experiences and inviting them to take action for a healthcare system that works for all of us.
This Zoom Training will prepare you to "canvass" using the Campaign for New York Health Base Building Tools - the Health Access Survey and accompanying script (http://www.nyhcampaign.org/canvassing). We are hosting this training in the lead up to the HUGE September 23 Statewide Day of Outreach. The Health Access Survey is designed to guide one-on-one conversations. It's the first step in a story-based organizing strategy based on people's lived experiences.
Join us on Thursday, September 14 to hear from Campaign for New York Health volunteer organizers who have started using this powerful outreach tool in their communities and get ready to hit the streets on Saturday, September 23.
Once you RSVP, you will receive instructions for joining the training and you will also be re-directed to a page to register your event for Saturday, September 23!
