The NYS Legislature is meeting for a short session the week of July 20th in order to consider pandemic relief legislation. There are several progressive policies solutions on the table that would put New York on the road to a just recovery. New York’s billionaires made over $45 billion since the pandemic began — we need lawmakers to put people before profits and re-direct those resources to our communities and to essential workers. Please join the #RacismIsAPublicHealthCrisis Social Media Storm, Monday July 20, from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm to make sure lawmakers hear our demands loud, unified and clear. Use our toolkit to send messages to lawmakers and to mobilize your network (toolkit is built for Twitter but works for Facebook and Instagram as well).

Racism is a public health crisis and the NY Health Act is just one piece of a racial & economic justice agenda that significantly expands care and allows us to more directly address racism in medicine instead of spending all our time fighting bureaucracy or fighting for funding.

The background color of the image fades from red to pink to purple. Protecting public health requires us to transform society beyond hospital walls and health insurance. We must have guaranteed healthcare for all but also ensure housing & food security, have dignity and rights in the work we do, fund public education, have clean air and water, decarcerate ourselves and more in order to guarantee health justice.

Please join our many coalitions and allies statewide and across issues to show the NYS Legislature that we are all in solidarity, we are full of beautiful rage and solutions, we are watching them, we will not be divided, we know that our issues are interlocking, and we need them to take action now for a just pandemic recovery.

Please RSVP below to receive the social media toolkit.

What’s a Social Media Storm? An organized group of like-minded people commit to posting on social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) at the same time to send a unified message to decision makers.

We are in month 5 of this global pandemic and our most vulnerable and most marginalized are still left to suffer and die because New York State continually choses billionaires and profits over people. We know we have the resources to do better. Let’s demand better together.

Forward together,

Campaign for NY Health team
