New York Health Act for Human Services Providers
Healthcare costs continue to rise and many New Yorkers remain uninsured and underinsured, preventing vulnerable populations from accessing the care we need. However, almost a majority of the New York State legislature is on record supporting the New York Health Act, the state level universal single-payer health insurance bill. If passed, the New York Health Act would create a system with no copays or deductibles – at a lower cost to employers and consumers. Coverage would include all New Yorkers regardless of employment, immigration status, financial status, age, disability, or pre-existing condition.
Assembly Member Richard Gottfried (Chair, Assembly Committee on Health) will give us a deeper understanding of how his New York Health Act will work for nonprofits and their clients and how human services providers can help support guaranteed health care for all.
