We have an opportunity to help build grassroots support for Healthcare for All in New York in a Statewide Day of Outreach. We’ll be knocking on doors and having conversations with our “neighbors” to find out about their challenges in accessing healthcare. The canvass will take place in a Washington County village (probably Fort Edward, but possibly Argyle or Greenwich) I’ll try to announce the details by Sept. 16. Rather than trying to persuade people to support Single Payer, we’ll be listening, guided by a 3 page, field-tested questionnaire. The materials we’ll be using are at http://www.nyhcampaign.org/canvassing (We’ll have copies for you.) I predict that we’ll meet people eager to talk about their frustrations with our costly system that doesn’t work for so many of us. This is an important step in creating the broad movement we need to win! Plus it should be meaningful and interesting, and maybe even fun. Your RSVP is needed so we can make this a productive event.
