“Healthcare Reform: Understanding Policy and Perspectives” Forum/discussion

Are you concerned, confused, angry and/or frustrated about your expensive and convoluted health care and insurance? If so, here’s your chance to vent and learn more about how we might “fix” our nation’s failing health care policies by organizing for a universal, public health care system that guarantee health care for all.

A public healthcare policy forum/panel discussion entitled “Healthcare Reform: Understanding Policy and Perspectives” will be held on Saturday November 11th 11am-1pm at the Frank E. Merriweather Library Auditorium 1324 Jefferson Ave. Buffalo NY 14208 at E. Utica. This moderated discussion will center on the pros and cons of health care bills and policies such as “Medicare 4 All Single Payer Bernie Sanders proposal”, the “ACA” (Obamacare), the “Murray-Alexander” proposal and other alternatives.

There will be 4 guest panelists with diverse views that include Dr. Robert Milch, a Buffalo-based retired surgeon and palliative care/hospice physician, Dr. John Gillespie, a cardiologist in Buffalo, New York. He received his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine and has been in practice for more than 20 years, Ekaterina (Katia) Noyes PhD, Director, UB Division of Health Services Policy and Practice- Director, MPH Concentration in Health Services Administration and Research Professor and Tim Faust, DSA health care correspondent and is pursuing a MPA in health policy and finance at NYU’s Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.

Short prepared statements from the panelists will be presented and prepared questions from the moderators will be posed. Time permitting we hope to field questions from the audience. The forum is slated to run 11am to approximately 12:30pm followed by a reception with light snacks and refreshments.

Also in attendance will be some local politicians who will be available to answer questions as well.

This forum promises to be very informative and aims to clarify which direction much needed reforms to our state and national healthcare system should take. All are welcome to this important event and admission is free and open to the public.

This forum is being sponsored by concerned citizens, the Buffalo Chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) and the Campaign for New York Health (CNYH)
