Healthcare for Every New Yorker
In the middle of the deadliest pandemic in recent history, private health insurance corporations are making record profits, while tens of thousands of New Yorkers die, lose income, can’t afford rent, and struggle to pay medical bills. The COVID-19 pandemic puts everyone at risk, but Black, Brown, and low-income New Yorkers carry the greatest burden of exposure as essential workers and the least access to quality healthcare when we do get sick. We need a just recovery from this pandemic, and that means truly universal, guaranteed healthcare. Read our info sheet on how a universal, guaranteed healthcare system would be better able to handle the pandemic than the status quo.
Even before the pandemic, New Yorkers weren’t getting the care they needed because of the outrageous cost and inequality in the system. Our 2019 report, 'From Coverage to Care,' revealed that 50% of New Yorkers covered by private health insurance plans delayed or skipped basic care due to cost, and those that struggle the most are people of color, women, and people with disabilities.
The New York Health Act [A.6058/S.5474] will provide comprehensive health coverage for every one who works full-time or lives in New York. You and your healthcare provider of choice will work to keep you healthy—New York Health pays the bill. You will never have to fear going without coverage again—especially in the middle of a pandemic.
Join us in building the movement to win universal, guaranteed healthcare. See below for ways to get involved in passing the New York Health Act!

Why Take Action for the New York Health Act
Each of us gets the healthcare we need through a just, equitable healthcare system that guarantees care for every one who works full-time or lives in New York as a fundamental human right, not just a privilege for those who can afford it.
Support our campaign to bring healthcare reform to New York.Donate to the Campaign
The Campaign for New York Health is a coalition of organizations and individuals committed to guaranteeing healthcare for the residents of our state. Our goal is to win improved Medicare for All in New York State.
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) made history by expanding health insurance to thousands of New Yorkers for the first time. However, it left private insurance companies in charge of our healthcare system. Meanwhile, the number of uninsured is growing because people are losing their health insurance tied to their jobs, resulting in more than one million New Yorkers having no insurance whatsoever in the middle of this pandemic.
As a just recovery to this pandemic, it’s imperative that New York establish a truly universal healthcare system that controls the outrageous costs. Our state can set the standard for the country by implementing a just and equitable healthcare system — New York Health!
