Healthcare costs are hurting everyone as more and more people struggle to get the care they need. This pandemic is affecting people in many different ways.
In the face of this crisis, we want to keep organizing for the healthcare we need.
The NY Health Act is the only plan that will cover everyone and guarantee high quality coverage – including long-term care – at a price we can all afford. To learn more about the NY Health Act, visit nyhcampaign.org/learn
While the opposition is powerful, we have the people on our side. That's why we need you to pledge to build the movement in New York State at this critical time. We can do this!

I live with Binge Eating Disorder, a complex condition that was finally recognized in 2013 as a diagnosable mental health condition. Few mainstream therapists have the specialized training necessarily to treat this issue and those that do rarely accept insurance. I have done a lot of research on what the therapists in my area charge and it is upwards of $150 – $200 a session. That is potentially an $800 a month therapy bill. That is not something that most working people can afford. I am tired of not being able to access care because I am not wealthy. I’ve been working since I was 15, busting my ass to make a living all throughout adulthood and here I am ready and willing to get the help I need to improve my condition but I cant because of financial barriers. It is ironic too, because it is even in the health Insurance company’s best interest to provide treatment for this. Untreated BED is associated with complications such as heart problems and diabetes. Isn’t it better to pay for the care for me to nip this condition in the bud now rather than wait for it to get worse and cause these expensive physical problems? It’s so infuriating and motivating me to do whatever is necessary to fight for a new system. Too many of us are falling thru the cracks.
In the face of the ongoing public health crisis, we must keep organizing for the healthcare we need.
A central piece of the Campaign for NY Health strategy to win healthcare for all is uplifting the voices and leadership of New Yorkers who have been hurt by the existing pay-or-die healthcare system. Please share your healthcare story, and we will followup with you about ways to be more involved in the fight for guaranteed universal healthcare.
