Please sign up to host an Outreach Canvassing event!
Canvassing refers to going door-to-door in a neighborhood and having conversations about important issues with community members. It is an essential component of organizing. Canvassing in neighborhoods (both at the doors and in high traffic areas) is the most effective way to engage folks in our community about our work to win universal healthcare.
The goal of canvassing is the engage *new* folks in our work by listening to their healthcare experiences and inviting them to take action for a healthcare system that works for all of us. You can find materials for canvassing at www.nyhcampaign.org/canvassing
Once you register your event, you will receive a confirmation email with links to materials that you will need to lead a canvassing team.

2 hours of canvassing for the New York Health Act (see http://www.nyhcampaign.org/ if you are unfamiliar but its basically single payer for New York state funded through progressive taxation).
We can meet at my place, which is in Senator Jacobs district, and canvaass for a few hours. The CNYH wants us to focus on Blackrock and Riverside, which is not far from my house. We can either canvass my neighborhood, or split up into teams and carpool over to Blackrock and Riverside. After roughly 2 hours of canvassing we can all meet back at my place for Pizza, Beer (for those inclined) and non-alcoholic beverages as well.
Childcare will be provided at my house for free by my fiance while we are out canvassing. Please let me know in advance if you anticipate bringing a child just so she knows if she has to babysit for hte afternoon or not.
My hope is that this will be a monthly thing where different DSA members step up to host a canvassing session. The time is really now to get out and organize if we are going to move the needle for the upcoming legislative session.
NOTE: you do NOT have to be a member of DSA to join us!
